Hexographer is an excellent cartography package for creating hex maps of your campaign. The current version contains an updated set of hex tile icons, but if you’re interested in the old school look (which more closely resembles the iconography of the TSR Gazetteer series), you can download and install the original icon set here.

  1. Download "classic_icons.zip"
  2. Extract the archive to a non-protected folder (e.g., "..downloads")
  3. Move the "classic-icons" folder you created in Step #2 to your Hexographer installation (e.g., "..Program FilesInkwell IdeasHexographer")
  4. Open Hexographer and create a new map
  5. Click the "Configure Hexes" tab, scroll to the bottom and click "Import Settings"
  6. Point the file chooser to the directory you created in Step #2 and select "classic.properties" file
  7. This should update your map's symbols.

N.B. These symbols were created by a trusted 3rd-party author; The Welsh Piper is simply mirroring them to make them available to the RPG mapping community.
